Believe it or not, carpets are one of the greatest contributors to indoor air contamination.
Among the commonest illness in a house is allergies, and carpets are practically a best environment for allergen, molds and mildew.
Not only that, however the modern-day wall-to wall carpeting in today’s houses are made of artificial fibers dyed and treated with chemicals (fungicides, soil repellents and pesticides, anybody?) and bonded to artificial backing with chemical glues. All of these materials launch hundreds of Volatile Organic Compounds as they age, in a procedure called out-gassing. Unstable Organic Compounds (VOCs) can be carcinogens, mutagens and irritants. Although a ceramic tile flooring can be expensive up front, due to the labor-intensive installation, they are really long lasting and long-lasting if properly kept and can be thought about as relatively budget friendly in the long run.
